This review of Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009) was written by Al V on 04 November 2012. The music in the movie also captures the emotion perfectly. The scene that will get everyone is when Joan Allen's character meets with an old Hachi after 10 years of faithfully waiting for his master to return & you know he won't. While this is the Americanized version of the true story that happened in 1920's Japan, it manages to elevate the international mythical status that made the original Hachiko such a national symbol in his homeland. Anyone that says this movie lacks "in anything" because "the dog is main character" doesn't understand that it's about the bond between a dog & its human master (owner or pet parent if you prefer that title). Especially if you have or had a dog & your bond with that dog is strong. This movie will make you shed a tear or 2 or 3. I don't care if you're the toughest tough guy in the world.
